FUNDACION CANARIA PARA LA REFORESTACION

We plant native Canarian forest — pine, laurel, cedar — with volunteers, on land that has lost it. Come for a morning or fund a hillside.

  • Native species only
  • Volunteer planting days
  • Nonprofit foundation

What we actually do

We grow the trees we plant

Seed is collected from local stands and raised in nursery trays until the roots can hold volcanic soil. No ornamental species, no imports — Canary pine, laurel, tree heath, cedar and the companions that belong beside them.

Open planting days for anyone

You arrive, we hand you a mattock, gloves and a row. A coordinator shows you how deep, how far apart and how to protect the collar. No experience and no equipment needed — residents and visitors both welcome.

Every tree gets a location

Plots are mapped before the day and each planted group is logged, so a campaign can be followed afterwards instead of disappearing into a press photo.

A companion app for supporters

Our volunteer and donor app shows live campaigns, the plots they cover and what has been planted so far — plus short reading on Canarian forest ecosystems and why a laurisilva slope behaves differently from a pine ridge.

We come back after the planting

Replacement of losses, protection against grazing and summer watering where a plot needs it. A planting day is the start of the work, not the end of it.

  • Tools, gloves and saplings provided

  • Meeting point sent before the day

Sponsor native trees

Fund a batch of saplings for a named campaign, planted by our volunteer crews.

Regular giving

Steady support is what pays for nursery stock and the aftercare nobody photographs.

  • Funds nursery and watering work
  • Campaign updates as they happen
  • Change or stop whenever you want

Group and school days

A private planting session for a class, a team or a community group, with an ecosystem talk before the tools come out.

  • Session built around group size and age
  • Talk on Canarian forest ecosystems
  • Plot assigned to your group
  • Photographs of the finished rows

Campaign dates depend on the planting season and on the landowner's permissions, so we confirm them with you directly rather than publishing a calendar that changes.

From first message to planted row

  1. Send us a message

Your name, your island or where you are staying, and whether you want to volunteer, give or bring a group.

  2. We match you to a campaign

We reply with the active plots near you, what is being planted there and the dates the landowner has cleared.

  3. Planting day

Meeting point, what to wear, water and sun. You plant; we log the plot and the species as the rows go in.

  4. Follow what you planted

The campaign stays visible in the app, with aftercare notes as the crew goes back through the summer.

From people who turned up

★★★★★
I had never held a mattock. Ten minutes of instruction and I planted eleven pines before lunch. The coordinator checked every one of them.

★★★★★
We were on holiday and wanted one morning that wasn't a beach. They put us on a terrace above the clouds with twenty locals. Best thing we did all week.
Tom
★★★★☆
I give monthly and I like that the app shows which plot the money went to. It feels like a place, not a receipt.
